When installing a 120v pool light does the nich usually fill with water?
Question:
Answers:
yes, the niche is the part of the light that is permanently installed in your pool. this holds the water tight light fixture and the the light and the excess cord. You should have around 10' of cord that you would coil and store behind the light fixture in the pool. This allows for you to bring the light fixture out of the pool and above the water so that you don't have to drain the pool to change the bulb. Once you have the water-tight light fixture out of the pool you can change the bulb, Be careful to only turn the light on for 2-3 seconds to check it. These are water cooled bulbs and will burn out in 30 seconds if left on outside of water. Close every thing back up water tight and coil your cord back into the niche. To be safe turn off all power to your pool and look to see if this is the case. If it doesn't have the extra cord then you would have to drain the pool and dry the niche.
