Went on vacation, came back, house smelled like dirt?

Question:We were out of town for a week and when we returned our bathroom smelled of dirt (hard to explain the smell). Seems to be coming from the toilet or shower. Does anyone know what is causing this?

Answers:
You probably have a pipe that is seeping mud and without you there to flush it with water you'll notice the smell. How old is the pipe?

Only thing I can think of is that the water in the sewer traps dried out, but that is highly unlikely.
