How long you have to wait before you get soft water, after you have installed a water softener unit at home?

Question:

Answers:
The water coming out of the softener is soft. All you need to do is run the existing water out of the pipes and you will get it. Should take less than a minute. Hot water will take longer because the tank (if you are using a tank) is probably 40-50 gallons and that has to be purged. But the soft water will co-mingle with the existing water in the tank and you will begin to get softer water within a day, shorter if you just take a shower or bath.

Should happen almost immediately, unless you have a big tank to fill first, should not be more than a day though.
William H is correct, that is if you have the unit turned on, you have had it recharge once, and you don't have the water softener bypass open. If your water isn't soft enough, you may have to adjust the settings to soften it more. I'd wait a month though to see.
