What Type of paint should i use to paint Steel Siding on my house?

Question:

Answers:
i think ordinary latex will do it. i assume it isnt bare. i would prep the surface first by cleaning it with a bleach and detergent solution. i use a garden pump sprayer with a 25% bleach solution when i paint a house. it kills all the mold. throw in a bit of laundry detergent to dissolve the grime. then just rinse off. u really dont need to powerwash unless u have thick mold stuck on. as far as paint, give home depot a call. i am pretty sure house paint will go on it. btw, behr paint is rated number one. avoid sherwinwilliams/sears. good luck.

Painting outside - very important to prep surface. power wash - use a good metal primer. then paint with oil based latex.
Unless it is bare metal any house paint will work fine. If bare, us primer first.
I have been a commercial painter for 20 years and my instincts say oil based but I'm very biased. We ask the paint rep at store for whatever type we are using. Just call a Sherwin Williams, Mautz, Etc store and ask them and what they recommend and prep that type of paint needs. This will give you the best options, is it brand new siding on house you just bought and you don't like the color, is it peeling, chalking, exposed direct sun, salt air.
