Carpenter ants.?
Question:we found out where the ants ate the bottom frame of the door, and along the base of the porch. There don't seem to be any left there, taken part of the wall, out and just see sawdust, we have seen ants roaming around the floor, how can we make sure that we got their home, I did have ant traps last year, and that is when I say the sawdust go away. But still ants here
Answers:
I would suggest keeping the ant traps and use a product called SEVEN, and treat for at least a couple of years to make sure the infestation does not happen again. I have used Seven for years and it is a great product. Just use as the instruction say and treat even if you do not see any. That way new ants will not come in and start the problem all over again.
We had this problem and had to have the exterminator come and get rid of them. They were back the next spring. We had to have all of the dead wood and dead trees around our yard removed. Then the exterminator came and got rid of the new ants and we have been clean since. Good luck.
They are almost as tough as termites. You need to have a professional exterminator take care of them. Chances are you didn't get the nest and if you did they will come back anyway.
I was a property manager for years and had several altercations with ants. Believe it or not borax and icing sugar mixed 50/50 in powder form will wipe out an entire nest. The icing sugar draws them and when they take it they take the borax with it right back into the fornicary (Ants home) and eventually they all die. Gauranteed cure for disposing of ants.
There are not any preventative products on the market that a homeowner can buy that are effective. As far as things you can do,Eliminate conducive conditions,Make sure there is no wood-soil contact, trees touching the home, moisture conditions in the home or against it,rotten wood is replaced and sealed, mulch is not piled against the house, and firewood is stored away from the home. The only products that will work are done by a professional,do not take shortcuts in protecting your home.Call a Pest Control Professional and have a proper treatment performed. The best products are baits.Sprays just scatter the ants and will result in a larger infestation
