How do u fix ac if fan unit to produce ac isnt running?

Question:

Answers:
If you are talking about the outdoor fan motor, there are several things that you can check.

1. First make sure power is on to the unit.

2. With the thermostat set to the cool position, go outside and check your unit. Take the panel off, and look at the contactor. If it is pulled in, and your fan is not turning, you have a bad capacitor, you can fix this yourself, but it is dangerous, because the capacitor stores voltage, and can shock you with up to 440 volts, so I would call a service man to do it. It is not expensive.

3. If contactor is not pulled in, then you have a low voltage problem somewhere between your indoor and outdoor unit. My advice here is once again to call a trained service man, to come out and trace the wiring problem out and fix it.

4. Finally you might just have a bad fan motor. Need to call A/C company to have them replace. this can be around 300 dollars.

good luck

If the condensor fan motor is not running then I would first check the breaker in your house. If that is not tripped you need a service call. Capacitors and other itmes in the condensor will kill you even with the power off.
