What is a homemade cleaner for the bath tub that works?
Question:I have used the sprays and they just don't seem to keep it clean.
Answers:
A bi-weekly scrubbing with baking soda and a weekly wipedown and soak with a full tub of water and bleach.
Baking soda.
Thank you. I asked this question in my head earlier today. I wanted to know if one can make their own dry shake-on cleaner (like comet)
coat the whole tub with cheap shampoo and leave it overnight. Next morning, rinse and you'll have the shiniest tub ever. Be sure and rinse well or it could be slippery!
Vinegar and Bi-carb of soda make sure it bubbles, then wipe and rinse.
personally, i use a special formula consisting of 2 parts lemon juice, 1 part clorox bleach, and 1 part pepsi cola. the acidity of this solution, mixed with the small part of base from the bleach allows for intense cleaning without the risk of damaging your bathtub. i know this sounds fishy but trust me it works!
The kind of cleaner you use depends upon what your tub is made out of.
You cannot use an abrasive cleaner on a fiberglass tub it will take off the finish.
A simple cleaner for almost any tub would be baking soda. It will not hurt the finish and it will cut throught the soap scum too!
Make a "paste" out of it and scrub your tub. Rinse.
Rubbing Alcohol is good to use for the chrome fixtures
vinegar and bakeing soda also use salt
sprinkle a liberal amount of baking soda around the tub pour about 2 cups club soda in tub and use brush or plastic scrubber use more club soda as necessary rivce with water works great
If it is not a plastic or fiberglass tub use MEX powder. Warning: wear gloves, do not get mixture on plastic surfaces.
Read the instructions!
The stuff is great for lots of cleaning, but you must read the instructions first!
