How do I fix a leak in my roof?

first you have to find out where the leak is, then what caused it. did the roofing fail, the flashing, was there wind damage to the shingles, tree branches or other objects scraping the roof, someone walking in a valley? what style of house is it? how old is the roof? what type of roof? are there dormers, skylights, valleys on the roof? is the leak near the chimney or stack pipe? how steep/flat is it, do you know the pitch of the roof? you need to give us more info to get an answer that will give you any advice worth anything. with what you've given us, your best bet would be to call a roofer and get a quote for repair.
You need a yellow book about the same size as a roof tile but twice as thick. Open it at the last quarter of pages, look under roof repairs and phone a man to come and repair it.
You can buy a roof repair kit at The Home depot...its right in the lumber isle next to the cement
