How do i hook my up light to ceiling fan?
Question:Ok what im trying to do is rehook my light to my ceiling fan that came down a while back i have to wires coming from the ceiling fan one is white and one is white with a red end both say to light on them. on the light i have a white wire and a black wire with no writing on them. so i dont know what to hook up 2 what without getting shocked .

hook the white to white
hook the black to white-red
white to white

but turn of the power at the breaker box first.
Generally you hook up a color to the same color.
Lowes' site says: "Determine the hot and common wires by color: black is hot for the fan, blue is hot for the light kit, white is common for the fan and light kit, and green is ground. In all cases, make sure that all exposed wiring is secured inside wire nuts."
If there is a green wire in your ceiling it could go to either a green or just a bare copper wire in your fan. Green and copper are your grounding wires. If you don't have them, don't worry about it. Just an extra safety feature.

Last but not least, this example might be closest-looking to what you actually have: Www.electrical-online's pix show some red wires. They say: "With our fan, it was green wire from the fan spliced to the bare copper wire (ground), white fan wire spliced to white wire, and black fan wire to black wire, and the blue wire from the fan light kit to the red wire."
