How can I get oil to flow to the chain on my mcculloch chainsaw?

Question:The oil port hole in the casing doesn't seem to be clogged. When plunger is pumped, only a very little oil comes out. There is moderate resistance on the plunger when pumped. The saw is a "silver eagle".

I also emptied all oil from the reservoir and sprayed some carb cleaner. Pumped several times but very little fluid came out of the port hole.

Any suggestions?

Answers:
The saw won't use a lot of oil. It will use more when running so you can't really check just by pumping. You should use about a tank of oil to two tanks of gas. Does your saw also have the auto oil? Some McCulloch's have both auto and manual. The auto works by the compression of the motor blowing oil onto the bar. If the auto isn't working you may have a problem their. Something could be stopped up.
Not saying you did but also make sure the bar is on right side up. I have seen them on upside down which on some make the oil holes out of line. If you are getting oil and the chain still feel like it is dragging, make sure you grease the sprocket.

You don't want a lot of oil to come out of the lubrication port. Too much oil will just be thrown off as the chain is spinning. Sounds to me like the saw is running fine. Keep the chain sharp and the bar clean.
