We had a leaking roof from where an air cooler got put, leaked through the roof and then through the vents, hubby used Silastic, cheap and easy. He did it on the outside and inside of roof. Worked perfectly and was the cheapest thing to do, don't have to worry anymore when it rains!!
If you think about it, Mike, there is no point in fixing a leak from the inside because water will still get in from the outside. And if you've done a good enough job from the inside, the water will just build up until it gets heavy enough to burst through your inside repair, probably causing even more damage. Get a professional roofer on the job and fix it properly, once and for all time.
No, please realize that in order to properly repair a leaking roof one must repair the roof, thus you most likely need to fix a few shingles, or replace the shingles, or replace the entire roof, depending on the extent of damage to the wood...
You can't. Water needs to be prevented from coming through the roof in the first place. Any inside patches would only keep the water in the roof deck and the water would still find it's way out.
Get some roofing tar and totally cover the area on your roof where you think the leak is coming from. This is the only way to fix it until you buy a new roof.
