Gas Stove with pilot light - stove top seems hotter than it should.?

Question:How hot is my Gas Stove's - stove top suppossed to be? I have a Gas Stove with a pilot light so it is always on, I know it suppossed to always be warm, but how warm should it be?

Answers:
You have to realize that you have an open flame right under the stove top and heat rises so it's going to get darn hot. Look at the flame and if you feel it's too high, there is an adjustment on it where you can turn it down.

There is no set temperature. If it's bothering you, turn it down. But the burners may not light, and then you have a more serious problem
