Is it possible for my fridge to break but the freezer still works?
Question:i got home today and my fridge light is out and it seems a little warmer than it should be. i opened the freezer to see if it was off too but the light is on and its still cold. is it possible for the fridge to die but not the freezer? i thought it was all one unit. the freezer is above the fridge.

First, change the bulb in your fridge. Next, buy a cheap thermometer and put it in a glass of water. Put the glass of water in the fridge. Check it the next day, and you will know how cold your food is... It's the food temp we care about, not how cold it feels or the air temp!! It is possible that the connecting system from the freeze to the fridge side is out...Cannot be more specific because there are at LEAST 10 ways to do it these days.. But most units have only ONE refrigeration system that cools the freezer and pushes cold air into the firdge compartment!!
yes. my freezer doesnt owrk, but my fridge does
i guess its vice versa
of cos, nowadays many freezers and fridges are operating with seperate motors. You've better ask some technicians to cheek your fridge .
if its a combined unit they have two motors one for the fridge and one for the freezer but if the motor on your fridge has gone this still wouldn't affect the light because the light is nothing to do with the motor so it could be just psychological that you think its broke because you have no light what i suggest is replacing the bulb, also take out some of the products because an overloaded fridges' food will not be as cold, turn the thermostat up on the fridge and see what happens, if nothing then your fridge is F****D and you need to buy a new one don't try and repair them its cheaper in the long run to get a new one ,if you can't afford it at the moment just freeze bags of ice and transfer them to your fridge i did this for about two months before i bought a new fridge, its a pain but if you're skint it's the only option you have.
check in your freezer is there ice build up on the bottom? if thier is then your defrost element or timer may be bad, or the condensate drain could be clogged. any 1 of these could cause your problem their is a vent that pushes cold air from the freezer into the fridge if it freezes over no cold air can get to the fridge the way to test it is to hand thaw out freezer and turn back on fridge if fridge gets cold u found the problem
Yes ofcourse as for technology sky is the limit

A common reason is ice/frost build up on fan(s) that direct cold air in or out of one area to another. Search for fan locations, usually behind a shroud or cover. Access fan, clean. Also, remove all other ice build up.
