I bought a GE Adora gas range from Home Depot--spent $1000 and it needs repaired after 2 days!?

Question:I've not even used it!! I' ve contacted Home Depot (they're just "the Vendors") and GE--I got the dang thing on 6/21--sent my old stove off with them, I smelled gas all night and day afterwards, called Home Depot (not their problem) called GE - they sent a repairman who stood for 10 minutes with his hands on his hips staring at the stove (told him hubby and I both did that and it didn't help--probably pissed him off), he told me I couldn't have smelled gas--cause he didn't---well NO I TURNED IT OFF! Anyway I'm a week into this and have just gotten phone calls telling me they will either fix it or get me a new stove--I've e-mailed, called daily and nothing is happening--someone tell me what to do -- I want a new range!

Answers:
Why can't you just return it to home depot?

This works around my home town:
First, you call the press for a press conference in front of Home Depo. Then, you transport the damn thing just in their parking lots.
You give the press conference of what had happened with your purchase.
Then, you turn it on and bomb the damn thing in front of the store.
Put up lots of signs, build allies of unfortunate customers. See it in the newspaper the next day.
PS it helps if you act really insane.
call home depot again and ask for the number to the headquarters, customer service dept. or try going online to homedepot.com and getting the contact number. Call them explain what is going on, stop dealing with the dummies in management at the store. The HD used to be great about helping customers and standing behind their products they sell, remind them of that and see how that helps you.
It is Home Depots problem - they sold the item to you and are therefore responsible for any warranty claims. Do you have a Consumer Affairs department? (a government department that acts on behalf of consumers that get a raw deal from businesses)
These are the people (or their counterparts in your country) that you need to contact.
I think Andy is correct. Just tell Home Depot to come and pick it up - you dont want it. However it could be something really simple, like they didnt tighten up the gas line properly when they installed it. If you are inclined to mess with it - mop around the fittings with a soapy solution and if its leaking, it will show bubbles.
Call the better business bureau, or call the manufacturer, but Home Depot, is responsible. Talk to the manager. I bet you already have. I haven't done business with Home Depot, but they should replace it or repair it. I think they are giving you the run around. Go to someone higher up. Good luck and best wishes!! Put a report in the newspaper. And call the better business bureau!!
