Can mold be brushed off easily? We were told there is possible mold, but it came off like dirt?

Question:

Answers:
Mold can not be brushed off easily. Mold spores often can be brushed of easily.

If you had mold spores, there was growth there at one time. If it brushes off easily and there is little or no discoloration in the area, either it is not mold, or the mold has since become dormant.

Mold requires moisture to grow. If the moisture that was supporting growth is now gone, the mold is likely dormant. If the moisture returns, so will the mold. I would wash with bleach in water to kill any remaining spores and reduce future growth. If the moisture returns, new mold spores from the air can settle and begin a new growth, so the long term solution is to make sure the area stays dry.

yes it can be brushed off of the surface. But if it is on wood, then it is imbedded in the wood and has to be treated.
I had mould in my bedroom. It came off easily but soon returned. I think you can wash it with special solution but will need to treat the wall properly to stop damp getting in and/or improve the ventilation.
