My toilets flush sometimes and then other times it backs up? Do I need a plumber?
Question:When it is backed up we can plunge it and then the next time you use it the toilet will flush fine. All the water doesn't always go down. I have used a snake on my toilet and it still does this. Do I need to get a whole tank kit and replace everything inside?
Answers:
No tank kit will fix this. The problem is somewhere else. If you have a very very old toilet, you'll probably need to replace it. The symptoms you describe also point to the possibility that there's a birds nest or some other blockage in the vent section (the part that goes out of the roof) of your drain/waste/vent pipe.
yes do u live in a house do u have a tank the in the yard
The guy above me is referring to a septic tank. If you live in a rural area and have a septic tank, it may be full and need to be pumped out by a professional.
First try some Rid -X. The stuff works great. I don't have a septic tank so I use a very small amount. It can also be used to unclog sinks. It is safe for all pipes and plumbing.
ok, at least you have 2 toilets, both on same sewer. if sewer clogged it will effect all drains in house. narrow it down to the toilet having problems. if you can plunge a toilet and unclog it that means the clog was before the vent. which means very close, most of the time in the toilet itself. their is either an object in the toilet that needs to be removed, or the mechanics of the toilet are worn out. if not enough tank water it will not flush, if flapper shuts to quick it will not flush. now comes the hard part. if you have a cheap low flow toilet, there is not much you can do but live with a plunger, sorry.
