How much to charge girlfriend?
Question:how much do i charge girlfriend to install 2 interior doors with poutting old molding back ; its her dads house and he will probably reinburse and also i need to make a living too it semms i always get these jobs for friends and walk away scratchin my head with two nickels to rub together. so whats fair?

I would charge her whatever the two doors cost plus $25 to install. I think that's fair.
Surely they dont expect you to work for a dog for nothing. Just be straight forward and charge them the same as you would charge someone else that you didnt know. Just let them know the price before you start on anything.

Ahhhhh...Friends and family. Rule of thumb. You can't make money off friends and family. Now with that said, figure your costs of material, cost of labor, percent of profit and don't forget overhead costs and give your friend an honest estimate.
If you get the job then you should make a buck and if you don't (because your price was too high) then you didn't want it anyway.
I would say parts plus 30% for labor.
I'm an electrician and do side work also. I would charge $20 to $25 an hour. This is very fair.
I also do work for friends and family for free. I figure everyone gets a free one, after that they pay at a discounted rate.

Ouch! hmmm let me ask you this.If you want to throw a big party for someone and you want your girlfriend to fix a big meal that everyone would like.would you expect to pay her? You cant charge your girlfriend cuz she wont be your girlfriend very long if ya do. Just figure the cost of the supplies and do it on a weekend with his or her help. Save all the recites. Sorry but your in a no win situation buddy :(
