Pool pump leaking, any advice?
Question:I have a small leak coming from the outflow pipe that runs from the pump to the filter. I think it may just need tightening, but the piping that is used is the har PVC plastic piping, so if I try to tighten it, then it will throw off the angle at which it has to go into the filter "in" hole.. and it won't set correctly... What can I do?? someone recommended taking the pipe off and putting that white piping tape around it, however, as far as I can see, it already has that on it. Any other ideas? and it is all 1 year old, totally replaced pipings and such...

If the leak is coming from where the pipe enters the joint, you may want to try reapplying the teflon "white" tape. If you tighten a pipe too much then it can leak just like if it wasnt tight enough. Also they make some stuff called pipe dope, check with the boys at home depot or lowes.
If you dont want to fool with pulling things out, you might consider caulk. might work, if it doesnt your out a couple bucks and its an easy clean up!
Hmm, this is a tough call but whatever you do please don't over tighten as you'll likely damage the fittings.
One solution is to reposition the pump or filter so they're inline.
Another is to use flexible, Schedule 40 PVC piping. You will need to glue the fittings onto the pipe. This type of product is made to ease installation in tight areas. A pool supply store should carry the necessary material.
If at all possible have the original installer fix the problem.
Good luck.
You can try epoxy putty. Apply and allow to dry with pump off.
If you can find fiberglass tape that works great.
But this area is subjected to the highest pressure in your system, so the proper thing to do is to replace. Rather than use a PVC male adapter (with teflon tape), use a "close" brass nipple with a PVC female adapter. Never overtighten...
