My dryer will only run when the start button remains push down. What do you think is wrong with it?

Sounds like the start button is stuck or is bad looks like you will need to replace it
Your overheating protection device is broken. I would recommend you buy a new hairdryer to prevent any fires from happening.
when this happened to me the door switch was bent in a little bit. so i bent it out and made sure the door was completely shut and it ran i cant say for sure but it is worth a try. good luck
Definitely, 100%, it's broken.
most likely its a bad centrifacal switch on the motor,it switches from the start winding "which you engage by pressing the start button" to the run winding. should not be the door switch as suggested above if the unit does run with door open you have more than one problem . this is a problem that should be handled by a service man,,,good luck
