How to increase friction?

Question:i use to have a really stiff window which wouldn't open easily and you really had to force it, so i applied wd-40 (lubricant) to it and now it is far to slippery it opens all the way and wont hold at fixed point. when i open it a little it extends all the way instead of holding at a point. so how shall i increase the friction and reduce the lubricant, i applied the lubricant a couple of months ago and i thought it would of worn out now but it still hasnt.

Answers:
WD 40 works by displacing water, thats what the WD stands for, the 40 is how many different combinations it took to get it right. What I would do is to spray some kind of degreaser on the window tracks, then wait for it to dry and spray some cleaner on it to get up the excess so you dont have a mess in your windowsill. After you do this, in about a day it should start sticking again, maybe it wont stick as bad though. Good Luck!

use something with rubber on it ?
Put a little flour on the sill to absorb the WD-40.
use window putty to smear it
use cat litter to absorb the oil.
Clean the window track with window cleaner; this will remove most of the WD40.
