Can I use vasaline to lubricate the rubber seal on my garbage disposal?
Question:It's an in-sink-erator. It has an assembly to the sink flange onto which the disposal unit is turned. The fit is tight. I'm replacing a same brand disposal so I hope not to have to replace the sink flange assembly but am concerned that the torque I need to apply to twist the new unit onto the assembly will twist things out of line.
But I think if I can lubricate the rubber seal that will make it so I can twist the unit on without unaligning the rest of the thing.
Will vasaline be okay? Or will it damage the seal?
Thanks.
Oh and here's a link to the disposal I bought.

It won't hurt anything the use the old hopper.
I don't because people pay me good money to replace their disposal, so everything goes in new.
But it goes on all the time to leave the first ISE hopper and just change out the disposal itself.
You'll be ok. If not, it only takes five or six more minutes and some plumbers putty to set the new one in. And, it'll look better.
yes u could or just replace it.
Spray or thick silicon grease would be better and safer but petroleum jelly ought work just fine
the new disposal comes w/ a new seal and a offset allen wrench to remove old one. Put some "elbow grease" on it and it will come loose.ps ,save allen wrench to unjamm disposal at later date
No, do not use vasoline, it is a petroleum product and will degrade rubber. Use silicone grease if anything.
Yes most definitively you can use Vaseline.
I wouldn't- It might harden with time and age and temperture.Get some lube from a hardware store or garage.
