Low water pressure --- City Water?

Question:There is not enough water pressure to run two sprinklers. I tried everything, but I cannot get enough pressure. Can I add a pressure plump to city water?

Answers:
If you have old steel pipes, the problem could be corrosion inside the pipes slowing the water flow.

You could add a variable speed pump to your system but they are kind of expensive. I would check and see if you have a pressure reducing valve on your main line. They are usually located at the water meter. You could also try taking your outside faucet apart and turning on the water. Sometimes debris gets caught inside the tube of the faucet.
A pump will not increase your flow by itself if your problem is lack of feed from your service. Checking for restrictions such as undersized pipes, i.e. smaller than 3/4" to hose bib, clogged pipes, or other obstructions is a good start. Buy a cheap pressure gage that fits the hose threads and see if you have 40 to 60 psi. If you do and have no obstructions, then you answer lies in a pressure tank that can accumulate water and supply it quickly when needed up to the volume of the tank.
