Question about garage door openers...?

Question:Theoreticaly, could someone buy a universal garage door opener and open my garage door. I know they sell universal openers but do you have to have a special code to open a door and would the code be relativly easy to figgure out? Gotta hate white-collar criminals.

Answers:
yes it is possible but unlikely unless you have fairly old unit. My advice to you would be purchase a new opener with what is called rolling code technology, what that does is every time you use your opener it changes codes making it virtually impossible to "grab a code" I have heard of a special scanner that someone like a repo guy would use but have never seen one.

no not possible the remote has to be programed to the motor and you have to be in the garage to do so
Its relativly easy to get door open, they sell stuff to scan systems to get them in, it's not a white-collar crime, eq cost money , its the pro's. Call a alarm company if you need the added peace of mind, they can hook your home alarm system into your garage with a remote to shut down the alarm 1st then open the door. Its easy to get into any home.
Yes, it is possible. In fact you can drive around town pushing your garage door opener and eventually you will open someones garage door. It would be more difficult to open a specific door by changing the code on a remote, but certainly possible. There are only so many code combinations available.
