Which is better?
Question:I have central air and it cools off in here pretty quick when it kicks on. is it better to let it be on all the time and just set it at a certain temp or leave it off all day till i get home and then turn it on and cool the place off and let it run overnight and turn it off again in the morning?
Answers:
The main thing an AC does is dehumidifies if you shut it completly off it has to start all over again (dehumidifying) the next day. so leave it on just turn the t-stat up. A programable t-stat is a good way to go.
a theremometer to set time intervals but the main thing is energy conservation you can do a lot of things to cool down with out it such as stick ice infront of a fan and sleep like this it works quite well
I think, and just think just keep it around 5 to 10 deg's warmer when your gone, keep shade closed to keep sun out. It should not run to much when your not home, be it will faster to get it cool when your home. Its a try and try again think to get temp's rigth.
Buy a programmable thermostat. That way you can set the time you want it on and off for each day of the week.
Set it at one temp and let the fan run continuously so it circulates. It will keep the condenser from kicking on constantly. When your not at the house set the AC at 70 degrees. Depending on where your at, ah it does not matter, my husband said if you need a programble thermostat just email me back.. we will send you a free one... he does this for a living.. for one of the top places in Oregon..
