My riding lawn mower is going through a tank of gas in about 30 min. What could be wrong?

Question:I can usually mow for 3+ hours without refilling the tank, but all of the sudden it goes through a tank in about 30 minutes. Anyone know what could be wrong? It is a Cub Cadet 16hp V-twin.

Answers:
you are losing fuel..check your fuel line.

Check again. If the engine is normally ( no giant plumes of white smoke from rich mixture) then the gas is going somewhere!

without looking at it I can't help you more...and yes you could only be losing fuel when it is running.

best to ya.

It's got to be leaking somewhere, I don't think it would even run if that much where going into the carb. it would flood itself.

Check the tank and the hose running to the carb. for leaks.
you have to have some kind of leak take your shrouding off and run your mower and look around your motor
Check your oil. The fuel pump diaphragm may have a hole in it allowing fuel to leak into the crankcase.
