How do you replace a utility light?
Question:I have one of those utility lights on my property and it just burnt out. How do I replace it.
Answers:
If my presumption/guess is that you're talking about a STREET LIGHT that the local Elecrtrical Power company normally places along streets, then there normally is a metal tag on the pole that identifies each utility pole. write this number down and look up the telephone number of your utility company, and you simply call it in and report it out so many days. They will send a crew out to change/replace it...if they don't fix the problem in 7-10 days, call again and remind them you called in to report it earlier. Normally you only need to call them once, but different localities have different priorities. Hope the info helps!
The previous answer is exactly right if you are in the city limits, if not, the bulb changes just like any other bulb in your house(you will have to take the old one out to determine what type of bulb to replace it with). Some of the lights have a cover, which is usually hinged, and has one or two screws holding it on one side. You will need a tall ladder, but other than that it just screws out and back in.
Depending if your in the city or out. Some security lights are mostly maintained by the electric company. Just call and inform them of the problem. If your wanting to change what type all you have to do is go to a good hardware store and tell them what it is you want, either high pressure sodium or Mercury vapor there are others as well but these are the most affordable.Disconnect power or just change bulbs
