Mold in the bathroom?
Question:We have mold in our bathroom. It's not a lot. a small patch. What is the best way to handle this and repair it so it will not come back? the mold patch is about 2 feet by 1 foot on the wall by the tub. There has been a leak from the shower head that has been repaired. just need to know what I should do at this point before I seal the wall back up.

A bleach based cleaner then its best to paint a bathroom with an oil based paint~~
Mold hates light... $100 says your greenboard is completely rotten...
Fix the moister problem, and then tackle it with bathroom paint.

Bleach, applied full strength, will get rid of it. But it may not stay gone; you may have to treat it again from time to time. Do your best to keep the humidity down -- leave the door open when not in use.
Hmm.. if the mold is that localized you may want to cut out the old wall and patch it with new greenboard.
Bleach works good and I use it all of the time for normal cleaning of bathroom tile but I do not know if it would work. One good thing about bleach is that it actually leaves a trace of chlorine on the surface that keeps mold from coming back for a time.
Take caution bleach is very corrosive and its fumes can harm your lungs.. use appropriate ventilation, eye protection and rubber gloves. That is why a lot of mold contractors use more expensive anti mold agents (safety)
make an incredibly strong solution of bleach (2 parts bleach to one part water) and spray it on the mould patch, leave it overnight and scrap the mould off directly into a plastic bag, put the bag outside immediately after your done, then spray the bleach again and leave it over night again and scrub with a weaker bleach solution in the morning!

I would first repair the leak, cut out affected area and replace then use oil base primer and paint, while picking up paint ask about a paint additive called amildewcide or a company named zinsner sells a mold and mildew resistant paint also an exhaust fan wouldn't hurt the most important thing to remember is mold is a spore that floats through your house unseen to the human eye can cause a wide range ailments
