Why my brand new stainless steel pot is making click sound when heating?
Question:I just bought it, brand new, 5-ply bottom (stainless steel, aluminum, copper), expensive stuff! Anyway, I was so excited to use it and after washing it, put it right on the stove, following the directions which says to use medium to low heat. However, it starts making "click" sound right away. And what's even more bothering me, is that it doesn't cook fast at all. Maybe I'm throwing too many things in the pot? I had to check again and again and finally turn up the heat to highest. I'm using electric range like the ones you most often see. What's wrong? Is it defective or is it me not using it right?
Answers:
If its just a regular stainless steel pot (I think thats what your saying) the click is probably just from it expanding and contracting as it heats and cools-nothing to worry about. You've probably heard your oven do it many times. And you probably just aren't waiting long enough for it to heat up when you say it isn't cooking fast at all. I don't understand how a pot could have so many things wrong with it. Try boiling water in it for a while on high-if the water never boils, then I would consider getting a new pot.
as metal heats up it expands which is probably making that clicking sound
