Do you know the price of RAW slab granite? NOT the $50- $100 asked to install- just the polished slab...?
Question:I wan to use this for a project, so I am looking to buy one sheet like I saw at the "slab yard". But they say, they sell only to "fabricators"! They "post" prices that are $40- $70 per square foot, but hey, I know that is to protect the fabricators. So what does it really cost?
Answers:
I was at a slab yard who sold to whoever and they quoted prices of around $800 for the large slabs(polished). Right now Im traveling in south america, and Im kind of curious to see how much it actually costs here. Places in brazil they make whole bathrooms out of granite(stall walls included), so it must be cheap.
RAW slab granite is availablae from granite quarries. Each quarry mines a certain color of granite and sells to fabricators.
Raw granite is unpolished and the polishing is done at most quarries. Local fabricators normally do not havae the powefull machines that do the cutting, polishing etc.
If yu cannot locate a section of granite from a local fabricaator, try a company that sells monuments, headstones etc. They might be able to get you a piece of polishhed granite cut to the size you need.
Search for Elberton GA. the granite capital of the world,( I live near there) There should be all you need there.
