How do I cool my attic room?

Question:I have a 2 bedroom bungalow. The attic was converted into a 3rd beedroom. I have central air and it works great for the house. But the attic has NO duct work for the centarl air. I have a portable 10,000BTU AC unit that i run. It still gets hot.I dont know if i should have duct work installed to bring the central air up to the room. So the question is: is it a matter of cooling the air in the room or exausting the hot air with a fan? Help!

Answers:
I would start with trying to insulate the attic. the would keep the room from heating up as much and keep the cool air longer.

first, insulate the attic, then try getting an air conditioner installed. A fan would also help circulate the air in the room. Dont leave the windows open cause it lats moe heat get in.
You can install an attic fan
A good thing to check is the 'breathing space' under you roof. Air should be travelling from your soffit area up the rafters to a vent close to the apex of the roof. Replacing the square type vent with a spinning one will increase the air exchange, and thereby keeping the room below cooler, so your window A/C unit doesn't have to work as hard.
See if you can tie the return air at least into the house system to help the cooling along as well.
Your best answer is both. you should run both supply and return ducts to said room, also any unconditioned attic should be ventilated with attic fan.
