My cultured marble tub has yellowed. How can I fix this without replacing?

Question:All bathrooms are cultured marble, 17 years old, and nothing else has yellowed except for the 2 tubs. Evidently there was a problem with the manufacturing process of the tubs, the coating has yellowed, and the company has gone out of business. Is there a process I can use which will restore the original color so it with match the surrounding panels / sinks? Thanks.

Answers:
No. It's CULTURED--therefore the resin used that is causing the discoloration is integral to the actual marble/limestone used in the casting process. You MIGHT be able to have an enamel re-seal--but not likely, as those are usually over cast-iron tubs. You might consider those companies that will "drop-in" a new shell that fits over your existing tub--tho I think those are plastic. Go to your local home improvement store and ask them--they might have some new product to fix it up or a sale on replacement! Good Luck!
