How can I get my pool water cleared up?
Question:My pump had a cracked seal so I couldn't run my pump until I replaced the seal so the water turned green from algae. I have skimmed it like crazy and have shocked it. I have had the water tested and the chemicals are fine and the algae is gone, the problem now is the water is blue and very cloudy. You can only see about halfway to the bottom. This is an above ground pool. Any help would be great.
Answers:
Go to your pool supplier and get the chemical that makes the particulates stick together and the filter will catch it. If you are using a sand filter, don't backwash it too often. Let the pressure rise a little bit and it will catch the small particles. Otherwise the particles will go right back into the pool. It sounds like you haven't given it enough time to clear all the way. Over shocking it will not resolve a particulate problem.
This page will be a big help.
