How do I attach sheets or drop cloths to cover my new cherry kitchen cabinets before I tackle painting?

Question:the ceiling? I don't want to tack them as it would leave holes. Tape won't be strong enough I don't believe. Any ideas? Thanks

Answers:
nail them to the front of the cabinets. just kidding!
I bought some drop cloths made of very thin plastic and they are lightweight as can be. If you could find some of those, they would easily stay up with tape.
Best wishes!

Use drop cloths and secure them with actual painter's tape as to not leave residue behind.
You could try the blue painters tape. It should be strong enough. if not, try the 3M brand adhesive line. The tabs come off without leaving marks if you follow the instructions. Be sure the packaging says that they are removable.
Try thumbtacking the plastic sheeting to the walls above the cabinets, then when the worst is done, take the sheeting down and put blue painters tape on the top door of the cabinets to finish out the detail trim work. The paint will fill up the thumbtack holes.
You can use the blue painter's tape & thin sheets of plastic -try using the wider (2" or more) blue tape for greater 'holding power', as there's more sticky surface on the tape to adhere to the cabinet surface, which will provide more holding power for the weight of the plastic. (but do NOT use 'regular' white masking tape.)
You can also use brown paper with the blue tape, which typically comes in rolls that you put on a roll dispenser along with your blue tape...or you can use large sheets of newspaper if you are in a pinch.
Whichever you use, just be sure to firmly press down the edges of the tape so that the paint won't seep under it. And don't leave the tape on for extended perionds of time, because the tape will get stickier as time goes on, and may leave tape residue on the cabinets, or possibly take some of the finish off of the cabinets when u try to remove the tape...so remove all of the tape when your are done painting. Good luck...hope this helps!
instead of using a heavy drop cloth, use painter's plastic sheeting and painter's blue tape. The plastic sheeting will protect your cabinets just as well as a drop cloth and it won't be too heavy for the tape to afix it to the cabinets to hold in place and don't worry the tape won't leave any marks or residue behind.
