Supplier of aluminium tube?
Question:I'm looking for a supplier of aluminium tube - 22mm od x 1mm wall thickness x 1m length (or longer). I want this to make a few replacement poles for a frame tent as I can't find a supplier of replacement tent poles. Any info would be gratefully received.
Thanks,
George

A decent hardware shop should have aluminium tube.
Not sure if it would be strong enough for your use, but you can get copper pipe for plumbing in 22mm od, at up to 3 metres in length. Measured wall thickness of some I have around and it was 1.04mm. probably within your spec, but sandpaper should sort it out if it is critical.
A decent fix for broken poles, which can be applied while away, is polymoph (a form of nylon that's mouldable at just above 60 deg C). You can get it from Maplin electronics.
Melt a handfull of the pellets in to a flat plate, and throw it in your tent peg bag. If you need to make a quick solid join, much like you'd get with a lump of epoxi resin, get a cup of boiling water, and throw the ploymoph in. Let the water cool down at bit, so you can fish it out without scalding yourself, and then mould it around the bits to be fixed together. It'll set rock solid as soon as it cools down (a few minutes). If you need to get it off, heat it up, and it will soften again. It can be used over and over again.
