We bought a pre-hung feather river fiberglass entry door. its jamb is tan primed. can it be stained?

Question:if it can still be stained, do i need to sand it again and what color will i use to match the door (medium oak color)?

1. You can use a solid color stain, but it will look like paint. You will see the texture of the wood but have no variation in color.
2. If you want a more standard stain look, you will need to sand or strip off the primer before you stain the wood (if the frame is wood, if this too is fiberglass refer to options 1 or 3).
3. If you have patience...you could try using a gel stain over the primed wood or fiberglass. This can take awhile to dry and requires a clear coat to protect the finish, but you will have to play around with your application technique to get your desired look.
