My washing machine door wont open! Any suggestions? How much should it cost?
Question:I have done the troubleshooting and it is the door lock that is broken.
I can buy a new one for £5.99 but i have no clue how to fit it. How much should it cost to have someone fit a new one?
And right now i also have a clothes crisis! I am a bit reluctant to force the door incase i do more damage.
Answers:
un screw a pannel and you will see the switch behind the door
remove the switch
ADEPENDING ON WHT MACHINE IT IS SHOULDNT COST NO MORE THAN £50.00 TO HAVE IT DONE NORMALY ITS A STRAIGHT FORWARD JOB GOOD LUCK HOPE U SORT IT
I wish you lived near me, I know a guy that would do it cheaply for you. Prob cost between £30 and £50 to fix it.
You have to take the top off the washing machine and put your hand down inside from the top to release the catch. It depends what machine it is as some machines have water operated catches so you cannot open the door with water in it as well as electronic others have a cable that connects to the pulley at the back so you cannot open the door while it is spinning. email me for any other advise
i fixed my fathers washing machine door
and depending on the model
the one i fixed has a double panel
because of the rubber insert between door
and revolving barrel,if i knew what a time consuming hassle
it would turn out to be just to replace a door [hinge and 4 screws]i would have gladly paid a person 100quid to fix it for me-it seems and looks straightforward but believe me you will find one thing leads to removing another thing to get back to the first thing.arghhhhh what a boring nightmare,i got there eventually but 100quid is cheap at the price to let someone else fix it.
Before you try any repair, make sure the machine is unplugged, because reaching down inside the machine will give you an electric shock. Check that all the water is out of the machine, as some make have a sensor that stops the door from opening if water is still in the machine, failing that you may well have to remove the top and release the door micro switch, then you will be able to get your cloths out. To get an engineer out will cost around £50 to repair, or you could buy a new Interlock for around £15 to £25 depending on the make and model, its a easy job to fix, so may well be worth attempting it on you own, just make sure you know where the wires go to if they are not on a multi plug. i.e do it wire for wire, because if you get it wrong you risk doing further damage to your machine, and that can work out expensive.
My mate Sid can open any safe so a washing machine should be easy... I'll send him round tonight after you've gone to sleep...
