Lawn Mower.Restringing the pull start.?
Question:So I went and bought the string to restring the mower because it broke and my boyfriend cut the string before we knew how long or short it needed to be-the only thing is-is that we dont have the original pull string. Any answer? Its a craftsman lawn mower.

Get the Model # and go to Sears and buy the proper replacement cord & handle. It'll be the correct length and come with instructions, be sure your bf reads them b-4 doing anything.
fold the string put it in a bag put it in the shed and hire a mower man it's easyer.
Okay, I have done the same thing. Re-stringing is really a pain in the ***, but it can be done. Just got to remember that tension needs to be on the spring so that it will rewind itself. Another solution is to go to your nearest craftsman dealer, ie sears., and you can actually purchase another pull starter. It should be just four bolts, and you are done!! Hopefully this will help you.
The standard length is 54 inches for most mowers.
