When you should replace your gas water heater with an electric one. Sounds crazy but hear me out.?
Question:My electricity costs are .069 per KWH. My cost of gas is .9313/Ccf.
And here's the trick to why I am going to ditch my gas heater for electric or solar. My gas charge each month is $16, but by the time I pay the delivery charge, the customer charge and other fees, my monthly gas bill is $28!
So the decision is, would my electric bill go up $28 dollars a month by using 17/Ccf worth of energy each month for hot water?

You should get one of those tankless water heaters. They are a little more expensive but it would solve your problem.
Actually your electric bill would go up more than that. Electric heating is extremely ineffecient. whereas burning natural gas is naturally hot and much more effecient. the cost of gas would have to go up to 1.5x more than it is now for electricity to be a cheaper option.
Solar isn't a bad option, but again, not as effecient you won't have as much hot water. I'd look into on-demand hot water if you're looking to save money, instead of keeping a whole tank of water hot it heats it as you need it.

I'm not sure where you live, but it sounds as though your gas bill is extremely cheap. Before you decide on installing a very expensive electric heater, ask some of your neighbors what they have. I can almost guarantee that you will be very disappointed with an electric one. Gas has always been a far better way to go. If you have the means to use propane, it is even better.
