Push lawn mower problems?
Question:Hi,
Like a bad owner, I left my push lawn mower outside during the winter with no cover. Now it won't start. I added more fuel. I also added more oil but accidentally over oiled it, and when I started it, some of the oil leaked out the side, now it is at the perfect level according to the stick. Anyway, I was wondering what might be wrong with it? Any ideas would be wonderful. Thanks!
P.S. I am new to machinery, but specfic instructions will be well followed!

It won't run or it won't even try to start? When pulling, does it seem to offer more resistance than before? It might be as simple as the spark plug. Remove the wire from the plug check for oxydation, clean if necessary, may need to remove the plug in case the corrosion is at that end (replace) set the wire about a 1/4 of a CM from the plug and give a little pull on the starter to see if there is an arc.
Replace the sparkplug. Be sure to clean the wire.
Remove the spark plug and turn the motor a few times to expell any oil, replace the sparkplug with a new one, you might have water in the fuel, so drain the tank. if the mower has a sediment bowl you need to remove the bowl and clean it. the float will drop down when you remove the bowl make sure that it is opererating properly.(when the float is down fuel will run, when it's up the fuel will stop)replace the bowl and it should start.
You can remove the air cleaner element, put a couple of drops of fresh gasoline directly into the carburetor opening, replace the air filter element and close the air filter. Start up the mower. If it starts and dies, you need to take it to a repair shop - the carburetor is likely plugged from old gas you left in all winter. It will need a thorough cleaning. Not something you can do yourself.
If the mower keeps running after you added gas into the air filter, let it run at full throttle for at least 5 minutes and you should be ok after that.
