What size air condition unit do I need for my 2100 square foot home?

Question:

Answers:
You cannot correctly size a central air conditining system bsed on square footage alone. Your house needs to be sized by an experienced HVAC person that understands how to perform a Heat/Cooling load analysis. It takes into consdieration the the following; perimeter of house in lineal feet, #stores, type of & thickness of insuation, type of windows and doors, direction the house faces, size of duct work, number of occupants.
Once completed it will give you the size of the ac unit in Tons.
If you oversize the a/c will not dehumidify the house and it will never cool adequately. If undersized the unit will run and run and burn out eventually.
Call a couple HVAC companies and ask if they can do the load calculations and price out the system.
