Is mineral oil the same as baby oil?

Question:I have bought several Bamboo kitchen items and they all say that Mineral Oil is good to use occasionaly to main the appearance. If anyone has ever used Mineral Oil, is it the same as baby oil? Also, when they say apply it occasionaly, how often would that be?

Answers:
No.
Mineral oil is a much heavier oil and does`nt penetrate the bamboo like a thin oil such as baby oil does.

It is used to keep the finish bright and new looking without having to re-varnish/shellac.
Use when the bamboo begins looking dull again.

Good Luck with it. I bet it`s pretty!

yes, but it is not good to ingest.
Baby oil is heavily scented. You probably don't need that on the bamboo. To be honest tho'--any oil will work. By applying it you are keeping the wood from drying out. Apply it after each use to keep it looking nice. If you forget, it's not the end of the world, just do it next time you use it.
Yes, it the same stuff...but.how much do you like the taste of baby oil? As for how often you should oil your bamboo, I would say never...if you use them a lot. I've had mine for years and have never, and have not needed to, ever, oil them. My guess here, is that they absorb a billionth of an inch of the butter, olive oil, etc, when I use them, and even through cleaning, retain their oiliness.
yes except for the fragrance in baby oil think of it as with or with out order
