Where can I find the 1978 Kenmore-Sears sewing machine manual.?

Look on your machine for the model number. It will probably be something like 148.xxxxx or 158.xxxxx. Then go to www.sears.com and click on "parts and accessories". Put in the model number. Next, select the "view parts list" for attachment parts, and you will see instruction book listed, along with other parts for your machine. The one for my Kenmore machine is still available for $12.49.

Refer to you model number as the first four numbers after the dot (the first three numbers refer to the manufacturer who actually made the machine for Sears). 148-series machines were made by White, 158-series machines were made by Jaguar/Maruzen. Current Kenmore machine are made by Janome. Good Luck!
