I am sorry to have to tell you it is dead...something got to hot and caused the insulation and the plastic to melt...most of the time it is cheaper to just go buy a new one as a a new motor for your mower could cost as much as the mower itself.if only the armature burnt up just to replace it is near 100 dollars and that doesnt include the brushes and the bearings.I have worked on electrical handtools and lawnmowers for years and never found it economical to rebuild one with a burnt out motor
look at the muffler and see if there is something melted to it if there is get off what you can and let the rest burn off
Hi Black-sabbath. A burning plastic smell in anything electrical is usually real, real bad and frequently terminal. You may well be smelling the insulation on the motor windings burning. This will happen if the motor can't turn or if it's bushings have worn completely away.
That said, it could just be the insulation on something as simple as the switch...in which case you have a short circuit that needs to be corrected.
Either way, you will have to disassemble the machine and look for what burned.
Hope for the best while expecting the worse.
Good luck.
I agree with the answer that contributer gave just buy A new one you'll be better off. And electric mowers don't have mufflers .
