While installing a light dimmer i head a pop?

Question:i tested it and everything worked fine. then i put the cover back on and when i turned it on pop. now my switch doesn't work. there are 2 other switches next to the one that poped and they work.

Answers:
either the light burned out, or you blew a fuse.

may have blew a fuse or not used the correct outlet wattage it may have been too much for the wiring to handle
burned out dimmer, get a new one (a better brand)). these thing happen.
check your breaker box or gfi outlet and reset it.
first take the switch back out it sounds like one or more of the wires came loose or when you put the switch back in one of the hot wires touched metal or another wire..
Sound like there is a short circuit. You may want to check the switch box if the switch has jumped or the fuse has burnt. Make sure the short circuit has been removed. Otherwise it is extremely dangerous to turn the circuit breaker switch on or replace the fuse.

Get the professional to do the job if you are not too familiar with electric current. Extremely dangerous and can be life-threatening.
You hooked something up incorrectly, and the switch has blown. You are lucky a fire didnt start somewhere. I suspect also that your circuit breaker probably flipped off too.

Turn your power off, and get a new switch, but also get a book on wiring, and check how to do it right, Good Luck
