Question:I have a water storage tank made of bricks & cement (capacity 500 litre). When i fill it up with water, after 2 to 3 days Elgi ("kai" in hindi) develop on the floor & side walls of the tank. Also small water worms develop in the water. How can I keep tank from Elgi & water worms & also keep water clean.

Answers:
If you already have algae and worms in the water, then please drain it out. Next clean your tank thoroughly using potassium permanganate solution. Use clean water to thoroughly clean up. After that fill up the tank and use chlorine in the required dosage. Keep tank clean and covered. Inspect periodically.

do not add water
What are you using the water for? Can you mildly chlorinate it? You could use pool chlorine, this should keep the algae and critters at bay. Just keep the level low enough that the water is usable.
Put some tabs of clorene in it and keep it closed.
