If the flame comes out of them, they are the burners, if the sit on top of the burners they are the grills. Go to the manufactureres website, they will even have part numbers, good luck
I owned a gas stove before and I think the discs were called burner elements, if not the people at the gas store will know what you are talking about. good luck
That should be the burner cap, the perforated part that "flames" is the burner head.
Try doohikey, or thingbob. If the clerk at the store doesn't understand, try going to http://www.repairclinic.com/0100_4.asp... and look up the burner assembly.
go to http://www3.sears.com/. They have parts for every major brand of appliance, not just their own. Enter your brand of stove and serial number. They even have diagrams of the stove so you know exactly what your need. I've used this service and it rocks. P. S. I don't work for Sears; never have.
i don't know the name but, why don't you take one of them with you when you buy new ones? it won't hurt to have them off, no gas comes through them. you can get the right size that way too.
or, you can clean them, too. a safety pin is one of the technical tools i saw a stove man use. just put it in and turn it back an forth (works great on pilot to if it seems low). or you can soak them in CLR to remove the deposits that are clogging the holes
if your talking about the actual elements that burn they are either burners or generators. next time you take them off take them to your local hardware store. they will tell you the correct terminology. hope this does "the trick"
they are called flame diverters or flame diffusers
