Is it better to live in a hi rise condo than a house?
Question:
Answers:
It's not better or worse, just different.
Depends. If you like gardening and want to have some dirt in which to do it, you want a house. If you hate fixing things, you want a condo.
Absolutely not. I'm a mortgage banking consultant. From a bank/underwriters perspective. A condo represents a "level of risk" Secondly; where shall thee BBQ? Third, some fire department latters will only go as high as the 18th floor. Fourth, I don't know about you, but I want some space between myself and my neighbors. Alast, it really is a matter of personal preference. Keep in ming that some lenders may charge a "price adjustment" lenders jargon which means that your rate is worsened, because of the condo. Other lenders will not consider condos that are more that a given number of stories high. Again, it's because condos are considered to be "a layer of risk" as is interest only, refinances *(especially high loan to values) and lower fico scores are layers of risk. But lets assume that you have a low loan to value, high fico score and the lender does have a price adjustment factor for the property type, also lets assume that the lender doesn't care that it is a highrise itself. Then, it's a matter of personal prefrence. Be prepared to walk the stares in fire drills (which can occure at 4am).
Good luck.
If you have no life, want everyone to know your business, give rides to people that don't drive or shop for them then go for it. If you like your privacy and a bit of nature, you need a house.
