My Electric Boiler went bang in the middle of the night.?
Question:Hi all,
My Electric Hot Water Boiler that only supplys hot water to the bathroom and kitchen (i.e. no radiators) literally made a loud bang last night.
Now when I turn it on it makes a slurping noise that is constant.
Anybody in here diagnose the problem or point me in the right direction?

Switch off the power feed to it. If you have a MCB on your consumer board, switch that off too.
A common fault with these things is that corrosion eats through the metal tubing housing the electrical element, then water gets in - its probably arcing inside thats making the slurping sound. The whole element assembly can be removed, they are designed to be replaced. I had 3 go in 18 years. It will look a bit like the one in an electric kettle, but designed to be "easily" extracted from the boiler.
I hope you get someone in quickly, its not nice being without hot water - but a good excuse to eat out!
yeah, call an engineer out and DONT use it!
call a plumber
DON'T use it!
get a Corgi registered engineer out.
I dived on a shipwreck last month and the entire ship sunk as a result of the electric boiler building up some pressure, going bang and setting fire to the whole ship.
Not trying to get you worried, just emphasizing DO NOT use it lol!
It may be that the electric element is damaged and need replacing. Damaged elements can still work and heat the water in an inefficient way that makes the slurping noise.
