Any side effects for wax / sealant over plastic?
Question:Am rather curious about the above Q. Currently I using Hi-Glaze 88 hi-gloss sealing ( suitable for plastic ) for protecting my high gloss plastics on my home theatre to make it shiny as day 1 for years to come. The instructions states to wipe clean with cloth after the process which I think apply to all commercial products but once I done that with my micro fiber cloth, scratches / swirls appears. My conclusion is that it is caused by the wiping process therefore I devise a new way to cure it. I polish again but this time does not use any cloth for cleaning instead using bare finger to wipe off the residue with no white residue left at all but all thats left is the oily feeling left over from the polish. The effect is perfect with no scratches and gloss is even glossy than the 1st method despite the oil residue. Here the Q, If I use my new method to polish my plastic. Will it damage the surface on long run leaving the oily effect <not thick coat>?
Answers:
I used Hi-Glaze 88 hi-gloss sealing for a while now with excellent results. Follow manufacture directions and you'll be fine. I use it in a wide variety of uses including my car and trucks.
Well, don't look like anyone wants to tackle this question so I'll give you my opinion. Seems to me like since it's a sealant, that in time it will mess it up. Why not try a camera shop and buy one of the cloths that they sell for cameras and lens. They have no lint and won't scratch. Just a suggestion and I sure hope it helps.
