My Black and Decker model 400W Hedge Trimmer is giving off burning fumes when running.?
Question:I have cleaned the brushes and contacts with no results. Do I need to buy another one or is it repairable?
Answers:
Sound like you've burnt out the motor. It will cost more to repair than replace, buy a new one with a higher power rating, then you are less likely to overload it.
shhhh everyone will want one.go buy a good one and toss that pos. cmon what is cheaper? even the manual clips are more money!!
Electrical tools work on smoke. Once you let the smoke out they quit working.( I'm kidding). Sounds like its time for a new trimmer.
its cheaper to buy a new one rather than muck about and waste time on your old one
I had the same problem. Tried new bushes, lasted a short while. They are'nt made tobe repaired nowdays, bin it.( take out motor, cable and blades, which are easy recyled.
If its expensive repair it, if not buy another one
the usual reason a burning smell comes from an electric motor is the armature is burning out. one of the tests is the motor will run slowly.you should be able to get a new motor for this machine but find out the price first it may make more sense to buy a new machine and get the warranty
Ibelieve your fuel mixture is too rich.
brushes in the motor need changing very easy very cheep
it will soon go bang, time to get a new one
